Timing beats speed based on the Art of War by Sun Tzu.

If you think you are fast, there will be someone faster than you.

While speed is essential for winning in business, career, boxing and battles, it is not the only factor of success.

What is most important is timing. In the Sun Tzu Art of War...

"Timing beats speed."

If timing is so important then what beats timing?

Let's discuss deeper about timing and speed to gain success.

What is "timing"?

Timing means having the right opportunity or opening that is right for you. It can be the right time to

1. Ask for a salary raise because your company made a lot of profit, which gives rise to the opportunity for a salary raise.

2. Go into business in a particular niche or segment of a market because no competitor is dominating it or nobody is focusing on this particular market.

3. Also go into business because you have the financial backing from a very powerful investor.

4. Attack the opponent in a boxing match because he left an opening, giving you the opportunity to strike.

What is "Timing Bests Speed" based on Sun Tzu Art of War strategy?

Here are wise words from the famous ancient military strategist, Sun Tzu, who wrote "The Art of War." He said,

A strong defence against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

Based on Sun Tzu's quote, we should create a strong defense. This means taking active measures by planning and preparing ourselves to be strong, skilled, and knowledgeable before executing our plans.

However timing for execution is provided by the enemy. When the timing is right then we move in with speed.

Capatilize on the window of opportunity with the excellent timing and attack with speed.

Speed without the right timing will not gain you success. Timing without speed, you may not be fast enough to gain the advantage. With both timing and speed you will gain the advantage and win.

"Timing beats speed" means timing should come first; after that comes speed. This is the Art of War philosophy.

What beats "timing"?

It is positioning that beats timing.

Timing or opportunity will not appear without the right positioning.

Positioning prepares you, or set you up for the execution, while waiting for the opportunity or timing to gain advantage over the competitor.

The Art of War teaches us the principles of "positioning, timing, and speed" to win, be it in battles, in business, career, or life.
